My Outdoor Facilitation Training with walkaboutyou
Last weekend I found myself laying on the ground in the middle of a forest, on fallen leaves, and in-between moss and sticks - and what can I say: it was surprising how stepping out of your comfort zone can feel so comfortable.
Just laying there. Looking into the sky, watching the leaves in the trees move. Calm. Relaxed. No stress.
I just completed the Outdoor Facilitation Training with Walkaboutyou - deepening my knowledge on how to guide groups through development processes, outside, with and through nature.
One exercise in this training unlocked something in me: the threshold walk.
We walked slowly through the forest, letting nature symbols find us rather than searching for them. Be present, be open, and notice what the forest wants to show you. What can I let go of? What do I want to let in?
At first, I felt disoriented. My head was spinning with thoughts. But as I kept walking, something shifted. My mind quieted. Stories started surfacing. Personal stories I didn't even know I was carrying. It unlocked emotions I didn't realize were present in me that time. And emotions? They're the key to telling stories that land.
There's something about being in nature that opens up space - space for new ideas, for different perspectives, for creativity.
This experience sparked something. Ideas on a series of workshops - creative storytelling, circular design, creativity. But not in a meeting room. Outside.
It's still taking shape, but I'm excited. If you've ever felt stuck in your creative process or wanted to explore sustainability and design in a completely different setting, keep an eye out.
Sometimes the best breakthroughs happen when we step outside - literally.
Stay tuned. Something good is growing. 🌲
