Finding Harmony in Climate Action: My Leadership Training with The Climate Reality Project 🌍

As I write this reflection, I'm sitting in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont in Paris, listening to a carnival unfold in the streets below. Drums, whistles, trumpets and voices blend together in perfect harmony - a community united in joy.

This weekend, I had the honour of attending the Climate Reality Leadership training, and I am still processing the profound impact it's had on me. ✨

As the sound of drums float through the park, I'm reminded of one particular speech I listened to in this training: Climate activist and musician Bartu Elci-Ozsoy 's.

He said that "(…) perfect harmony only exists, when every voice is heard (…)" 🎵

The carnival below perfectly illustrates his message to me. Each instrument, each voice in the celebration has its role. Some lead, some support, but all are essential to the beautiful whole. This is what I experienced in this training: Diverse voices coming together, each bringing unique perspectives and strengths to our shared mission. 🌈

Bartu's words formed something that I've been feeling about climate action. Just as musicians must listen to one another to create beautiful music, we all must participate in addressing climate change. There will be dissonances, but the key is to create harmony together through mutual respect and understanding. 🤝

Al Gore echoed this sentiment when he powerfully stated that "the climate crisis might be where we find our collective voice." This reinforces that every contribution matters in this global composition of change. 🗣️

The question he posed stays with me:

"Must we change?

Can we change?

Will we change? "

Sitting here with where the carnivals joyful harmony meets my newfound understanding from the training, I know the answer is: Yes, we will create change, a new harmony for our planet, one where sustainability and justice blend together in perfect balance. ⚖️

I left the training with a new sense of hope and purpose. Climate action isn't about one perfect solution or one powerful voice. It's about all of us contributing to a symphony of change. 🎶

So I'm raising my voice today, joining the worldwide chorus for climate action. I invite you to find your instrument, your voice, your unique contribution to this movement and play it loudly and proudly.

Because the most beautiful harmony our world can create is a sustainable future where all life can thrive. 💚
